May 2005 Archives

Taken at a recent school fair.

I liked the way this one turned out and its also a "people" picture.
I'm actively trying to figure out what I like in people pictures. I guess some notes to myself is that it shows action and tells a story. I also feel less intrusive since the primary subject is a picture of my daughter.
My Birthday is just a couple of weeks away and Michele was asking if my wishlist was updated. Well it is now!.
Here is my list for 2005.
I now feel like I need to start educating myself on how to take good pictures. I liked the subject matter and abstract from this book since it deals with one element of photography that I feel I need to work on.
Real World Camera Raw with Adobe Photoshop CS (Real World)
I currently shoot everything in RAW format and there were many good comments on this book that help with post processing. This is one reason why I like doing photography, it allows me to be creative but also allows me to do fun stuff on the computer as well.
Full Metal Jacket (Limited Edition Collector's Set)
Full Metal Jacket (Jackay) is one of my favorite Vietnam Movies. This is one of my cult classics.
This special edition has all the normal extra DVD features plus the soundtrack from the movie and an actually 35MM frame from the movie.

The puppy is straining against the leach so he can get into the game.

I took this at Emma's lacrosse practice. I'm trying to force myself to take pictures of people.

I'm still trying to take pictures of people. The problem I find is getting them in a natural setting that doesn't look posed. I feel that people or street photos need to tell a story (or make you think.) I still need practice with this type of subject matter.

Happy Mothers Day

This was taken last weekend while I was waiting for Emma's lacrosse game to start.

I have taken a ton of pictures the last week, but haven't had anything that I felt I could post. I was up late tonight and decided to do a little Photoshop practice. I have been looking for some good background images that I can use for some website designs I'm trying to create. I don't think I can use this for anything, but it was an interesting shot after I tweaked it in Photoshop.
I can see this being used for a mystery book cover titled "Murder on the Fourth Floor" (or something like that.)
