Yellow Butterfly

Butterflies seem to be everwhere I look in the middle of summer. They also make interesting subjects and are suprisingly easy to photograph. This one was shot at a birthday party for one of Emma's friends.

Thin Ice

This weekend Michele and I discussed visiting California this Christmas. It's the middle of July, but there are always reminders that winter is just around the corner. This sign was submerged in Black Hills lake.

Blue Jeans

I took the day off today. Sometimes you just need to get away from the office and wear something comfortable. I guess I should have taken a Monday off since Friday's are business casual. But any day away from work is just fine by me. I'm taking Emma fishing this weekend and hopefully I can get some nice pics (and maybe a fish or two as well.)

Butterfly Effect

The movement of a butterfly wing in Washington DC can cause a typhoon in Singapore.
Last night I watched "The Butterfly Effect" on DVD. I'm glad I didn't pay money to see it in the theaters, but it makes a good home rental.

Alien Thistle

Today Emma and I went for a hike on Magruder trail near our house. This was the first picture of about 30 that I took on the hike. From the 30 pictures, only 7 were worth saving. I guess that's to be expected. This is one of the reasons I love my digital camera. No need to worry about wasting money. The other is instant gratification, 10 minutes after arriving home, I can post this picture up on the web.

Moo

This picture was taken at the recently opened Kids Farm at the National Zoo. This picture is currently my desktop background on my work computer. Cows just look so friendly and give me a comfortable feeling (somthing I need at work.) Sometimes I wish I had a cow as a pet so I could give it a big hug. This is one reason why I no longer eat them.

Winter Walk

I recently upgraded my MT and Gallery software installs so this gave me a chance to take a look at some old pictures. Here is a picture from February of this year.

Stems for Sale

Some old stemware that we sold at our yard sale this weekend. We got $2 for the set of seven (it used to be a set of eight.)
