Tree Sunset Again

treesunset2.jpg

I took another crack at converting the RAW file shot from yesterday to see if I can get it closer to real life. I first tried Auto white balance and it washed out all the color. I then played with the temprature and this was what my eye saw in real life. I leave it up to you to decide which one you prefer. Feel free to leave a comment below and let me know which one you prefer.

Tree Sunset

treesunset.jpg

Here was the best shot of the group I took from the other night. I also wanted to point out that there was no Photoshop magic to this shot. I used my Canon 300D with the Sigma 105mm lens shooting in RAW format. The color temperature on this shot was set to "As Shot" with no white balance adjustments. I liked the way it looked so I left it as is. In real life the sky was as not as yellow orange, it still had a touch of blue.

Telephone Pole

Last night the family went for a walk. I took the opportunity to bring my camera to try and get some sunset shots.

Yoshino Cherry

cherry_blossom_white.jpg

Our Yoshino cherry tree is just now starting to blossom.

I really like the following photos. I just wish I didn't cut off the bottom of the flower. Normally these would have hit the trash can, but I guess I'm posting these to remind myself to check the composition of my shots.

Okame Blossoms

Here is a closeup of the Okame blossom. I like the way this one came out with the green grass as a background.

Here is another closeup with the sky as the background.

Soaker Hose

irrigation.jpg

Hopefully this is the last of the soaker hose series for a while :-) As I said earlier, I had lots of time in between hose moves. So I took a lot of pictures this weekend.

Weeds

weed_irrigation.jpg

Even the weeds got a little water last weekend. This is one of those stubborn wild onions. They seem to grow everywhere around here.

Irrigation Man

tree_irrigation.jpg

I spent the entire weekend watering and fertilizing all the new plants and the trees we planted last Fall. I ended up buying some soaker hoses since all the "plant guys" say that's the best way to water trees and shrubs.

It actually made the job fairly easy. You set up the hose around the tree and come back in 1-2 hours later to move it to another tree. The key is to have lots of hoses and a faucet setup with a multi-tap.

River Birch

riverbirch.jpg

As you drive up to our house the first thing you will now see is a very large river birch tree at the corner of our lot. Right now I feel that this is the highlight our new landscaping. This will probably change over time as all the plants grow.

Front Landscaping

Last Fall we had trees planted in the back of the house. This Spring we are having the front of the house landscaped. Here is a selection of our new plantings.
