Barkeep
While in California we attended a friends 40th birthday party. I took the oportunity to experiment with natural lighting.
On another note, if your looking to learn more about Digital Photography, I recommend that you head on over to the Tips from the Top Floor website and subscribe to the podcast. I have learned a great deal listening to this show and he just posted his 50th show today. All 50 shows have been great and I highly recommend that you give it a try.

Dumbo Ride
This shot was taken with a 10 second exposure handheld at Disneyland. It would have been much better with a tripod or something stable to place the camera on, but I was still impressed I was able to hold the camera steady enough for this shot.

Mine, Mine, Mine ...
Of course every visit to California requires a visit to Disneyland. This year was the 50th anniversarry of the park and we tried to find all the 50's (we got up to about 20 of them.) In 2007 they are finally going to do something with the submarine voyage ride, thanks to Finding Nemo.
As you can see from this shot, it was another grey day. It was nice for walking around, but not too nice for taking pictures.

Ocean Fishing
As many of you know I spent the first 35 years of my life living in Southern California. One thing I loved to do was go deep sea fishing. For our yearly visit I decided that I was going to take Emma deep sea fishing this year. So we woke up at 4:30 AM and were at Davey's Locker by 5:30 to catch the half day boat. We had a great trip and between the two of us we caught 8 sand bass, 4 tom cods, and a sculpin. What a great trip.

Goose
On several mornings we went to feed the ducks, squirrels, and geese ad Edwards Park in Huntington Beach. Even though it is August we had June gloom everyday during the vacation. On most days the sun never broke through the cloud cover till after 1:00 PM.

Back from Vacation
I'm back from 10 days in California. I took several hundred photos almost every day, but only have about 5 that I feel are worth posting here. I was glad to be away, but I'm also very glad to be back home.
