Racoons

One thing I learned on my trip to the Triple D is that I shouldn't be afraid to shoot at a high ISO. The lighting was very low at this location and I didn't have my flash, so I had to shoot this at ISO-1000. The grain still looks fairly good even at 100% and I'm very pleased with the quality of the sensor on my Canon 5D.

Mountain Lion Reflection

A mountain lion can't roar, but it can snarl, grunt, and hiss. It can also purr. I actually heard this mountain lion purring as it was walking along the bank of the pond.

Grey Foxes

Here is a pair of Grey Fox pups (or kits.) I had to do a google search to figure out what you call fox babies. Well most of the websites say that they can be called either pups, kits, or even cubs.

Here is another interesting tidbit:

What do you call a group of foxes?
A group of geese is a gaggle; a group of lions is a pride. A group of foxes is a rare and lovely sight, beautiful to behold. But if you need something shorter for everyday conversation, a group of foxes is called a skulk.

Cute Overload?

I was thinking of submitting this photo to Cute Overload. Technically its not the best photo, but sticking your tongue out is always a winner. The catchlights in the eyes are an added bonus.

Lake McDonald

This is a shot of lake McDonald in Glacier National park. We spent several hours at this spot waiting for the right light. The light never got to an ideal position, but I still like the way this one came out.

Max Says Hello

I like the way this one came out. It looks like he is waving hello. The lighting on this photo shoot was very harsh and I had to tone down the background and increase the exposure on the bear's face via a photoshop curves adjustment layer.

Black Bear

I just got back last night from a trip to the Triple D game farm in Kalispell Montana. I took more than 4,000 photos over the course of 5 days and still need to find the keepers. This is a shot of a Black Bear named Max.
