President’s Heads TinType

This past weekend I drove down to Williamsburg VA to attend a light painting workshop at the President’s Heads.

They are only open a few times a year and is a great location to grab some photos when they are open.

I arrived early to get some photos of the heads during the day. I decided to grab a set of photos using my iPhone and the TinType app. This app capture a unique look to mimic the daguerreotypes or tintypes that were used at the start of photography in the late 1800’s.

The TinType app works best with defined subjects. The nature of the TinType is to have sharp focus on one particular area (the eyes for example) and the focus blurs the rest of the photo. So these subjects were perfect for this app.
